Lafe Roush, Jr., 75, died at his residence on June 12, 1999, of natural causes, according to his family. Roush was a carpenter for 30 years with the Allison Division in Indianapolis. He retired in 1981 but continued his auto racing activities as a race car owner and builder. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 500, the American Legion (No. 467), and participated as a car owner in various midget and sprint car organizations, including USAC. The family has requested that contributers to his memory use the Rich Vogler Scholarship Fund, 7901 Sharon Drive, Plainfield, IN 46168. Services for Mr. Roush will be held at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th Street, Indianapolis, (317/247-4493) at 10:30 AM on Thursday June 17, 1999. Burial will be a Forest Lawn Cemetary following, SR 135, 1 mile So. of Smith Valley Road. Calling will be held at Stevens from four to eight (4:00 PM - 8:00 PM) Wednesday evening, June 16, 1999. Roush is survived by his wife Betty L. (Maschino) Roush; son Joe Roush; Sisters Eileen Davis, Dorothy Grott, Helen Sweetman, and Betty Adams.
