O'Reilly Chili Bowl Entries Surpass 250 Mark!
TULSA, Okla. (December 12, 2005) -- With another nine entries added to the list, the pre-entry total for the 20th Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals has officially surpassed the 250 mark for the first time in event history.
Currently, there are 251 entries representing 27 different states for the 20th running of the prestigious indoor Midget racing event, which takes place at the Tulsa Expo Center January 11-14, 2006.
Among the latest entries are 13-year-old Sprint Car sensation Trey Robb of Newcastle, OK, west coast Wingless Sprint ace Rickie Gaunt of Torrance, CA, and Late Model hotshoe Jeep Van Wormer of Pinconning, MI.
In August, Robb became the youngest driver in the 51-year history of Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway to win an "A" Feature by taking the checkered flag in the Super Sprint feature event. Set to take on the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour in 2006, Robb will be among this year's rookie crop at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals after finishing fifth in State Fair Speedway points.
Gaunt, the 2004 SCRA wingless sprint car champion, picked up three USAC/CRA feature wins this season en route to a ranking of seventh in series points. Set for his second consecutive Chili Bowl visit, Van Wormer racked up a total of ten Late Model feature wins over the course of 2005. Gaunt and Van Wormer are part of the three-car Dave Ellis stable of entries that also includes Jonathan Henry.
Other entries filed today include soon to be 16-year-old Conner Pullen, who is slated to take to the Hooter Pro Cup Series in 2006, Chris Edwards, Garrett Hansen and Chad Branson.
The pre-entry deadline for the 20th Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals is Thursday, December 15. Late and post entries will be $200 rather than the $150 pre-entry fee.
Three full cards of racing action will unfold at Tulsa Expo Raceway on Wednesday through Friday night, January 11-13, setting the January 14 Chili Bowl championship feature lineups.
Reserved seating for all four nights of the event was depleted in mid-October. Pit passes for all four nights do remain however. Four-night pit pass vouchers are available by contacting the O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals ticket office at 918-838-3777.
