Niagara Falls, Canada - The Castrol Can-Am Midgets wound up the year with their year end banquet this past Saturday night. The Best Western Cairncroft was again the scene of the annual awards night.
The ceremonies started out with a special thank you and awards to all the companies and individuals that supported the club this past racing season. Those honored were, Castrol Canada, Arlington Crane, Bicknell Racing Products/Hoosier Racing Tires, Gerard Daniels/Crooks Wire Products, I.T.B. Transportation, Extreme Racewear, Elf Race Fuels, FOAR Score Fan Club, Colour Tech Photography, Takacs Studios, Dave Franks Photos and Trace Fire Protection.
During Vinz Pingol of Castrol's speech to the club, he announced that Castrol will be with the TQ's for the next two years. The details of the deal are still being worked out but this is great news for the club and all racers.
A special guest was on hand, Rob McMullen who was welcomed with a standing ovation. Rob, his father Rick and family were on hand to make the drawn for the Daytona 500 ticket raffle and to receive a check from the club for a whopping $ 37 000 towards Robbie's trust fund. The final amount was closer to $ 40 000 with some last minute monies coming in. Thanks to all who donated time and money towards these efforts. Congratulations to Rob Howard on Oshawa, Ontario! Rob was the lucky winner of the raffle for the Robbie McMullen Trust Fund. He now has 2 tickets to next February's Daytona 500 and Goody's 300 at Daytona Beach.
Next up were the special year end awards. Extreme Racewear donated a $500 gift certificate to be drawn at random from the top twenty drivers. The lucky winner of the prize was James Treadwell. The second of the two product draws was won by James Gray who win receive a gift certificate from Elf Fuels
