Midget Auto Racing Returns To Pecatonica Motor Speedway

PECATONICA, IL, February 13----Officials of the Pecatonica Motor Speedway, and the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association announced today the series will race at the sweeping 1/2-mile facility located on the Winnebago County Fairgrounds, on Saturday Night July 20. It marks the return of midget auto racing to the facility, which hosted events during the 1970's and 80's. The last event was held there in July 1987, some of the past midget feature winners at the facility include: Don Vogler, Tom Steiner, Bruce Field, Newt White, and Dean Billings to name a few.

"We welcome the return of midget racing to our facility the tradition Badger carries is second to none" commented track president Greg Boran. The event will be part of a doubleheader weekend co-sanctioned with the MARA midget series, as the two will run also run on Sunday night July 21 at Angell Park Speedway(Sun Prairie, WI).

The race purse for the event will $12,000, defending Badger champion Dan Boorse, and MARA Champion Rich Camfield head the list of expected drivers. The Pecatonica event brings the Badger season total to 23 events at six different tracks. Additional dates are still under negotation.
