SUN PRAIRIE, WI, April 4---Twenty three events at six tracks highlight the 2002 Badger Midget Series schedule. Badger is the oldest active midget auto racing sanctioning organization, running events since 1936.

Once again Angell Park Speedway(Sun Prairie, WI) will be the cornerstone of the series hosting sixteen events. Weekly Sunday Night racing begins on May 19, and continues through September 1, with the running of the 21st annual Firemen Nationals, presented by Coca-Cola. This event has been known as the Pepsi Midget Nationals, and is renamed due to the tracks new association with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

Other special events at the track include: 50-lap events on: May 19, May 26, August 4, and August 18. Split shows with the MSA Winged Sprints on June 9, and the USAC Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series on July 7, are scheduled, along with the 14th annual Rich Vogler All-Star Race on August 11, and the National Midget Hall of Fame Induction Night on August 25.

Two new venues highlight the schedule, including the Pepsi/Mountain Dew Midget Championship at the Knoxville Raceway(Knoxville, IA), on June 1. The event marks the first midget race at the facility in twenty three years. The event will be co-sanctioned with MARA, and NAMARS. For the first time Badger will sanction a event at the Pecatonica Motor Speedway(Pecatonica, IL), on July 13, the last midget race run at the facility was in July 1987.

The Raceway at PowerCom Park(Beaver Dam, WI) will host the season opener, on Saturday Night May 4, and a August 10 event. The Hales Corners Speedway(Franklin, WI) will host events on June 28, and August 9. Wednesday Night July 3 the series will run at the Grant County Speedway(Lancaster, WI),last year marked the return of midget racing to facility after a 33 year absence.
