BEAVER DAM, WI----The 65th year of Badger Midget Auto Racing Association, race action will kickoff on Saturday Night May 5 at The Raceway at Powercom Park. Badger is the longest active midget sanctioning organization in the country.

The series will also visit the facility on July 7, August 12, and September 9, a total of twenty-five events comprise the complete 2001 Badger schedule. The May 5th event will mark the fourth time, the track has hosted the Badger season opener. Previous season opening winners have been: Kevin Doty (1994), Randy Koch (1995), and Dan Boorse (1997).

Doty the 1994 series titlist, scored a clean sweep in the series only visit to the 1/3rd-mile clay oval in 2000. Doty's eight Badger feature wins at the track lead all drivers, in that category.

Scott Hatton will open defense of his 2000 Badger championship, and should receive his stiffest competition from: Boorse (six-time champ), Kevin Olson (five-time champ), Koch (three-time champ), Doty, and Dean Erfurth ('90 champ).

The Powercom Park Modified division, INEX Legends, and Junior Sprints are also slated to compete in the May 5 program. The track's season opener is slated for April 21.
