Heydenreich Mending; Hopes to be Racing in a Couple Weeks
BLOOMSBURG, Pa., April 12 - John Heydenreich of Bloomsburg, Pa., who was injured Saturday night, April 5 in an accident during the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series feature at Silver Spring (Pa.) Speedway, was released from Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., on Tuesday night, April 8, and is recuperating at home.
"I'm stiff and sore, and I'm just taking it easy right now," he said by telephone Saturday, April 12, one week after sustaining a head injury in the crash with Mark Freeland and Tim Dietz. "I'm on crutches because I also have a pinched nerve in my left leg, but the doctors assure me that it'll work itself out real soon. I'm going to physical therapy to help it along and they're glad I'm moving about, because that will help it too.
"I'm hoping to be on schedule for the midget races I plan to do at the Speedrome and at the 16th Street Speedway in May [in Indianapolis]," he added. "I also want to do the Silver Crown race I've got lined up, and some sprint car races too.
"Alan Kreitzer [the promoter of Silver Spring Speedway] and everyone at the hospital and at ARDC were great," he added. "I want to thank everyone."
The next ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series races on the schedule are Lincoln (Pa.) Speedway Saturday night, April 19; Williams Grove (Pa.) Speedway Friday night, April 25 and Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway on Saturday night, April 26.
In May, the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series will appear at Dixieland (N.C.) Speedway Friday night, May 16; Flemington (N.J.) Speedway on Saturday night, May 24; and the Albany-Saratoga (N.Y.) Speedway on Friday night, May 30.
