FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ARDC CARQUEST Midgets Add Pennzoil As Contingency Sponsor
Easton, Pa., March 18 --- The American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) CARQUEST Midget Series announces the addition of Pennzoil as a contingency sponsor for the 1998 season. The Pennzoil sponsorship was secured through Ed Pados, a Pennzoil dealer in Bangor, Pa. Pados is the owner of Slate Belt Auto Parts, Inc., a Big A Auto Parts affiliate that is located in Bangor, Pa. Pados explained why he wanted to get involved with ARDC. "Racing has been a Pados family tradition, starting with my Dad and Uncle Bill and the ARDC Midgets have a rich racing tradition. Dad and Uncle Bill have been open cockpit race fans for many years. In fact, every year they both go to the cemetery in New Jersey where Ted Horn is buried and polish the brass headstone on Ted Horn's grave." Pados also expressed that he is looking forward to being involved with ARDC in 1998. He explained that, as a contingency sponsor, Pennzoil will provide every ARDC CARQUEST feature winner with a Pennzoil Racing Hat in Victory Lane. The Pennzoil products from Pados will be distributed throughout the finishing field. After each race, ARDC President Ray McCabe, will draw a numbered pill. The number McCabe draws will determine which finishing position (and ARDC driver) will receive the Pennzoil product that night. The Pennzoil products will be either a case of Pennzoil 50 wt. racing oil, a case of Z-4 Pennzoil lubricant or a case of Gumout Jet Spray. ARDC Midget teams will also be benefiting from several other sponsors that are returning as contingencies for the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series in 1998. Fontana Automotive in Gardena, California is returning and will award $100.00 to the ARDC feature winner with a Fontana engine. Fontana is also giving $100.00 to the highest point finisher with a Fontana engine. Ellis Chassis in Phoenix, Arizona is also going to provide $100.00 certificates to feature winners of the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series races. Design 500 Racewear in Seattle, Washington is offering gift certificates to the ARDC feature winners again this year. These certificates can be used toward the purchase of a Design 500 custom driver's suit. And, Power Mist Racing Fuel from Newton, New Jersey is returning as an ARDC sponsor again this year, too. Power Mist will be putting their product sponsorship into the finishing field of every ARDC feature by giving the 10th, 15th and 20th place finishers five gallons of racing fuel. ARDC Business Manager, Mike Roselli, Sr., expects more contingency awards to be offered for the 1998 season and will make these announcements as the sponsorships are secured. The ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series will hold its annual Media Day on Saturday, March 28 at Lobitz Catering in Hazleton, Pa. Any member of the media interested in attending as a guest of the club should contact Richetta Promotions at 610 559-5570. ARDC kicks off their 1998 racing campaign on April 4 at Silver Spring Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
