Team LNT take delivery of brand new Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S LMP1
British team complete shakedown of 2009 challenger.
Yorkshire based Team LNT renewed their acquaintance with Ginetta-Zytek machinery today, running their new GZ09S for the first time at a sunny Snetterton. Team LNT have enjoyed considerable success with Zytek Engineering in the past, finishing 2nd in LMP2 at the 2007 Silverstone LMS round and enjoying a stint in the overall lead of the 2008 Petit Le Mans (PLM) before eventually finishing 4th in LMP1 at the American flagship event.
This shakedown marks the start of an exciting new partnership between Zytek Engineering and Team LNT, which is set to include the remaining LMS rounds and the Le Mans 24 Hours itself. Team LNT owner Lawrence Tomlinson drove the car alongside the experienced Guy Smith and BRDC Rising Star Nigel Moore.
Lawrence Tomlinson, LNT Team Principal: "As we expected the car was fantastic, a further improvement from the 07S I tested last year, this is my first time in an LMP1 car and the difference in power from an LMP2 is incredible. The Ginetta-Zytek showed what it could achieve at Barcelona, hopefully we can build from here and get some good results, starting at Spa in two weeks time."
Trevor Foster, Managing Director Zytek Engineering: "In preparation for the Spa LMS round it is good to run another new chassis and complete 142 laps (446km) without any major issues, it was very encouraging to receive positive comments from all three drivers, who all have varying levels of experience, hopefully Team LNT can build on the promising start shown by the Strakka Racing LMP1 in Barcelona."
The Ginetta-Zytek, which ran in "Ginetta blue" familiar to spectators at the 2008 running of PLM, completed a trouble free days running and performed well at the hands of all three drivers.
The second round of the 2009 Le Mans Series at Spa-Francorchamps will see an increased Zytek Engineering presence with Barazi-Epsilon returning to the fray with their Zytek 07S, having missed the first round at Barcelona, and the Team LNT GZ09S LMP1 competing for the first time.
