Pedro Matos Chaves and Miguel Ramos are the sole Portuguese drivers in Le Mans.

National pair confidante in positive GTS result.

The Portuguese pair, Pedro Matos Chaves and Miguel Ramos, will be this years sole Portuguese team defending the national colors in the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, that will be run on the 15th to the 16th of June. The pair will be integrated in the British Team - RML, at the wheel of a Saleen S7R, enrolled in the LM GTS category.

This participation is undoubtedly due to the pair's excellent results this season in the Spanish GT championship, where they already have two wins, two poles and four fastest laps in the four races they participated. These superb results lead to Saleen's constructor, Ray Mallock's invitation and the Portuguese duo, Pedro Matos Chaves and Miguel Ramos will participate in the formation: " It is always a great satisfaction to see a dream come true. Especially when we will be participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a factory team, famous for it's competitiveness and professionalism", remarked Matos Chaves, whose only other goal is to participate in the mythical 500 miles of Indianapolis.

Anyhow, Pedro Matos Chaves and Miguel Ramos are aware of the difficulties inherent in resistance events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, starting yesterday with the technical verifications. "It is a tough race, and since it is a first, it will be all the more complicated, especially since, the third driver, Gavin Pieckering is on his first as well. Besides this, our positive thinking is at 100%. We are in an excellent team, so the probabilities of good result are better", said Matos Chaves, pleased with the idea of running in an event of this prestige. "The Saleen S7R we will be running in is not the exact same as the car we run in the Spanish GT Championship, but it is very similar, which only makes the driving easier since we are accustomed to the car. The differences are mostly in the fact that this is a 24 hour race with quite specific regulations, especially when it comes to the cars weight and potency, once our car will be lighter but with a stronger engine"

In concluding, Miguel Ramos referred the immense satisfaction it was for both drivers to witness their hard work in the Spanish GT Championship being recognized in such a compensating manner. "The best way to see our work recognized, it to take advantage of an opportunity such as this one, with such great sponsors from SIC Television, Vodafone and Tintas CIN. Anyhow, if it weren't for the team's will to have us both running with them, this dream could never have come true. It was Team Manager, Ray Mallock who came to us, due to our results in the Spanish GT Championship", explained Miguel Ramos, who along with teammate Pedro Matos Chaves, is well aware of the competition that awaits them.

"There are many strong opponents in our category, but the Ferrari Maranello of the Prodrive, and the Chrysler Viper of the Labre Competition are the strongest, without disregarding the other two Saleens from Konrad Motorsport. We have all the conditions to attain a good result, in fact so good that we may have a chance at the class podium", remarked Miguel Ramos, who will drive one of the 10 machines enrolled in the LM GTS category
