JMW Motorsport are pleased to welcome reigning FIA GT2 Champion, Richard Westbrook as their second driver in the 2010 Le Mans Series. Richard will partner fellow Brit, Rob Bell as JMW Motorsport begin their three year LMS campaign with the Aston Martin Vantage GT2.
Richard seals the team as an amazing British entity for the Le Mans Series with JMW Motorsport, Aston Martin, Dunlop and now two of Britain's finest sportscar drivers joining forces for this most competitive of Championships.
"I am very excited about joining JMW Motorsport" said Richard, "and am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the Aston Martin. The whole project has a very special British feel to it. It is an important project for all concerned and to work with Aston Martin and Dunlop on development is a challenge I look forward to being part of. "
Richard was also quick to praise his new team-mate. "I am a big fan of Rob and the chance to drive alongside him certainly swayed my mind. We will be looking to make the Aston Martin as competitive as possible from the outset and I am sure we can. We will be working very hard."
Richard will also be part of the JMW Motorsport Le Mans 24 Hour squad, when he and Rob will be joined by Tim Sugden as the team's third driver for the prestigious race.
"Le Mans 24 Hour this year is such an exciting prospect. Tim has an amazing knowledge of the race and is such an asset to the driver line up. It is a very special event and one I look forward to being a part of. I am sure the British fans who make the journey will spur us on!"
Whilst Tim Sugden will be on driver duty in June, for the remainder of the season he is JMW Motorsport Team Manager and he is more than pleased with their new recruit.
"I have known Richard for many years and as we've all seen, whatever he turns his hand to he is brilliant" said Tim. "Richard is an amazing driver and a fantastic asset to the team. He and Rob will make an enviable driver pairing of that we are sure".
The JMW Motorsport team have recently returned from a very positive Dunlop tyre test in Portugal with the test Aston Martin Vantage GT2, where they were comfortably on pace.
