The preparations for the race of the year, 24 Heures Du Mans, are finishing and Jan Charouz had a short break. He managed to visit Lola headquarter where have been manufactured many famous racing cars. One of the reasons for his invitation to Huntingdon, England was filming of the document dedicated to the 50 anniversary of the company. The 20 years old driver will star in the film along many motorsport legends. Personalities like Sir Jackie Stewart, Mario and Michael Andrettis, John Surtees or Damon Hill were also on the stage.
The British manufacturer has been closely working with team of Jan's father Antonin. The Charouz Racing System raced with Lola B07/17 in the 24 Heures Du Mans and Le Mans Series and for this year Lola built a brand new closed prototype for the Czech team and Aston Martin Racing installed their six litres V12 into the car. Jan is also Lola development driver.
"It was a pleasant visit, Lola has a rich history and you feel it everywhere in their headquarter," said Jan Charouz who travelled to Huntingdon from London where he studies on the London University. "I was talking mainly about preparations for the 24 Heures Du Mans and about driving the current and also last year's prototype. We were with the stage crew in the big hall, around us were famous Lola cars it was interesting work."
Jan not only did interviews for the document to the Lola anniversary but he also met with top managers Rupert Manwaring and Andrew Manahan. "He also met a lot of our employees and signed posters with the current LMP1 prototype for them," added Sam Smith, Lola spokesman. "The film will be broadcasted on many TV channels and we will later sell DVDs."
