Guillaume Moreau to race OAK Racing Team Mazda France's #35 LMP2 Pescarolo-Mazda at Le Mans
Guillaume Moreau will share the OAK Racing, Team Mazda France #35 LMP2 Pescarolo-Mazda with Matthieu Lahaye and Karim Ajlani at the Le Mans 24 Hours, in what will be his third participation in the iconic event at La Sarthe.
In the past two years, the Frenchman has had success in two disciplines, endurance racing and single seaters, with the Le Mans Series and Le Mans 24 Hours as well as the World Series by Renault.
He boasts a large number of podiums and victories on his CV, including the 2008 Le Mans Series GT1 class title with Luc Alphand Aventures, as well as a fifth place finish at that year's Le Mans. The 26-year-old began his career in karting, before graduating to single-seaters where he enjoyed success in the Formula Renault Eurocup, the F3 Euroseries and World Series by Renault, reaching the brink of Formula One. He currently races in the FIA GT Championship and lies third in the championship.
"I always had the intention to come back to racing prototypes, even though I didn't think I would stop racing GTs so soon as things have gone really well," said Guillaume. "I would like to thank Jacques Nicolet and Francois Sicard for allowing me to join OAK Racing. The Le Mans 24 Hours was paramount to my sporting programme this year. I think together we are really capable of doing well."
"We are delighted to welcome Guillaume Moreau to the team," said OAK Racing Team Manager Francois Sicard. "His background and character fit perfectly with what we want in the #35 car: talent, the enthusiasm of youth and a raw speed that is coupled with solid maturity. This cocktail has, until now, worked quite well for us."
