Goliath vs. Goliath: Porsche to the lead with just over three hours to go

It's getting wild at Le Mans as we prepare for a Porsche vs. Audi fight to the finish.

Le Mans came alive as the 20th hour got underway today. The #1 Audi, which held a one lap lead over the field, suddenly stopped on the course. Audi reported that Tom Kristensen was resetting the electronics and everything is fine now. Most quickly forgot about it, but suddenly, Kristensen brought the car down pit road.

He rejoined with the lead still in hand but immediately returned to the pits. He was wheeled back into the garage and the crowd went crazy. The team needed to recharge the turbo; the same thing they had to do with the sister Audi a couple hours earlier. He not only lost his lead, but three laps as well. Di Grassi stepped into the car when they sent it back out.

The beneficiary of their travails? Well, that would be Porsche. The #20 machine moved into the top spot but this fight is far from over. Besides the looming threat of something going wrong with the Porsche, it has consistently been slower than the Audis. As I write this, Lotterer is ripping chunks out of Bernhard's lead.

With the margin dwindling and the clock winding down, we are setting up for an epic duel between the two greatest teams in Le Mans history. I'm talking about the match-up many of us could only dream of for the longest time...Audi vs. Porsche at Le Mans.

It's on with just three hours to go.
