Due to terrible weather conditions the start of the second qualifying session was delayed by half an hour. Unfortunately, when the first competitors finally got on the track they were welcomed by another heavy shower. The action really started 40 minutes later still under a very threatening sky. However everybody knew that no times could be improved from the first session on such a damp track.
Following yesterday's troubles the team's main objective was to make sure that the electronic problems were fixed and work on the best dry/wet set up as the same weather is forecast for the week end.
Team Principal Ian BICKERTON was very positive and said: "I am pleased that we have now fixed our electronic problems which were mainly due to a wiring issue. Ok, we lost a bit of time but in the end nothing to worry about. We know that we have a good and quick car but with today's weather we could not improve our time anyway. We are now going to fit the car with a new gear box and engine for the race. I am positive we can achieve a great result".
Jamie CAMPBELL-WALTER: "All the work we have done today has been very useful. We have found a good compromise in terms of set up which allow us to well manage the expected wet/dry weather. It will be a long and very demanding week-end and I would like to take the opportunity to thank LASER® for their continuous support".
Shinji NAKANO: "No doubt the weather will be a key of the race. So I am pleased that our set-up for the dry can be adapted for the wet in just a few clicks".
Felipe ORTIZ: "I do feel comfortable with the car which is very important for such a long race especially with the wet/dry conditions we will face".
