Le Mans First Qualification Session Day : Great surprise for Miracle's Courage
In the LMP2 category, the fastest Courage had a great start during this first qualification session with excellent chronos. It is the John Macaluso's Courage of Miracle Motorsports which managed to get into the Top 10. Didier André from Lyon (Paul Belmondo Racing) also realised a great performance (11th) which allowed the two Courage LMP2 to frame the Pescarolo 17 (pole holder during the 5 June's preliminary sessions, and in 10th position this Wednesday night)
It has to be said that this past evening was ruined by the rain from the very beginning of the session, which did not stop pouring on the Sarthe's track. That is the reason why the fastest chrono, 4mn01s197, of the Pescarolo team (Loeb-Ayari-Hélary) is far from the 3min32s468 of the preliminary session.
In these conditions, it wasn't possible, considering the state of the track to set a record time and Yves Courage and his team in LMP1 made the wise choice to have the drivers simply qualify for night practice. It was better not to push your luck on this damp and greasy track. After a small electronical problem, the drivers went back on the track and were taking runs to try on one side setting up the car in wet condition, and the other to insure their qualifications.
The Courage Competition is waiting for its second chance on Thursday evening when a better weather is forecasted and should allow the team to set a better time , like it did during the preliminary session.
