This evening Aston Martin Racing's pair of DBR9s completed the first qualifying sessions ahead of the 2005 Le Mans 24-Hours. Dual two hour-long sessions saw DBR9 number 59, piloted by David Brabham, Stephane Sarrazin and Darren Turner record the second fastest GT1 lap time of the night, with car 58 driven by Tomas Enge, Peter Kox and Pedro Lamy finishing sixth quickest in class at a rain soaked Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans. Final qualifying sessions will follow tomorrow (Thursday) evening at the same times.

Team Principal Insight

"As we're expecting dry conditions for tomorrow's qualifying session, we saw little value in pushing hard tonight.

In the first half of tonight's session we had some concerns on the engine in car 59 and because the session had been disrupted by the weather anyway, we took the opportunity to change it and complete some checks. The team completed the engine change in little over 90 minutes, leaving plenty of time for the car to get back out on the track."
