Archie Hamilton (22, Basingstoke) and his G Drive Racing by Delta-ADR team have completed qualifying for the Le Mans 24 Hours and will start the race from 5th in the LMP2 class. Archie has put in his qualifying laps and had time at the wheel in the dry, wet and mixed conditions with night experience too and is feeling ready for the major task ahead. The 24 Hour race starts at the La Sarthe track on Saturday at 3pm local time.

2013 marks the sixtieth anniversary of Archie’s grandfather’s Le Mans win. Duncan Hamilton won the race in a Jaguar C-Type. His lucky orange has attracted attention at Le Mans this year where it is making a return bid for victory on board with Archie. The orange remained uneaten after being in the car while Duncan raced – he then kept it as a lucky mascot (pictured right).

Archie Hamilton:

“I’m ready for the race – I’ve been waiting for this since I was very young – it’s been my dream. My family are here to support me which is great and I’m really looking forward to getting in the car for my first stint. Finishing would be amazing – anything more would be a bonus.”
