World Karting Association and International Karting Federation Regions Seven and 11 form promotional partnership.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (December 3, 2002) -- The World Karting Association (WKA) and the International Karting Federation (IKF) Regions Seven and 11 announced today that they will work together next year to promote karting activities in California, and use the two Regions as a feeder system to the SCCA Pro Racing/WKA Constructors Championship.

Created in an effort to reduce the cost of karting in California, the Region Seven and Region 11 partnership includes all four venues of the 2003 Constructors Championship West Division, Willow Springs Raceway, Buttonwillow Sprint Track, Infineon Raceway and Desert Park Raceway, in Reno, Nev.

"We want to send a strong message to our customer base, the karter, that we want to work with existing programs to help build our sport," said Randy Kugler, World Karting Association President. "Region Seven and Region 11 have well established series already in place and we feel very strongly that these two entities can compliment one another. Non-conflicting schedules, common rules and class structure are the key elements to making this partnership a huge success."

"This partnership represents an opportunity to create an environment of inclusion as apposed to divergence between sanctioning bodies," said Art Verlengiere, IKF Region Seven Representative. "It is for the common good of the karting community that we are working together next year."
