"Team continues to roll along in 2008"
Concord, North Carolina -- March 4, 2008 -- SSC East had another very strong outing at the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup event at Charlotte Motor Speedway located in Concord, North Carolina. Racing out of the SSC garage was TaG pilot Arie Ouimet and junior competitor Michael Johnson. Looking for strong results, both drivers hit the track Friday morning in preparation for the weekend's racing action.
The young Arie Ouimet had the strongest SSC East results of the weekend as he managed to take his Vortex Rok powered CRG Road Rebel to two top ten results. Ouimet claimed the eighth position in Sundays racing action but managed a solid fourth place finish in Saturdays final.
"Racing inside the confines of Charlotte Motor Speedway is a great experience for all the drivers," explained SSC representative Mark Ouimet. "The WKA provides an excellent platform for racing and the competition is very tough. We had a very good weekend and represented the CRG product line very well."
HPV and Yamaha Junior Lite and Heavy competitor Michael Johnson made his national level debut in North Carolina and faired very well. Michael lost the use of his legs in a motocross accident and he started racing karts last year. Utilizing the CRG hand controls, Michael faired well but did not have the strong results that he hoped for.
"The SSC East/CRG Nationals is a tough chore for the nations best," commented Johnson after the weekend. "I was happy to be out there competing and showing other drivers that I can still drive."
