WKA and The Hilton - Charlotte University Place have partnered to offer exclusive rates to those attending the North American Karting Championships (NAKC) this October at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC. This special offer will be made available to other karting events taking place in Charlotte for a yet to be determined number of years.

As the "Official Hotel" of NAKC, The Hilton - Charlotte University Place will block off a number of their single and double occupancy rooms for NAKC attendees at $79 plus tax per night for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of the event weekend (Oct. 30th - Nov. 2nd). The Hilton - Charlotte University Place is conveniently located in NE Charlotte, 15 minutes from the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, and easily accessible from Interstates 77 and 85 via Exit 45. It is 5 miles down Route 29 from Lowe's Motor Speedway and WKA Headquarters.

The Hilton - Charlotte University Place offers a variety of shopping and entertainment options within walking distance. Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and a wide array of dining locations are all in the same block as the The Hilton. This will enable easy accessibility for those not familiar with the Charlotte area.

Please call The Hilton - Charlotte University Place to reserve your rooms today! Call 704.547.7444 or 1.800.HILTONS and tell them you are with WKA to receive your special rate. If you have any questions, feel free to call WKA Headquarters at 704.455.1606, ext. 10.

EXTENDING PRE-ENTRY PICKUP FOR HORSTMAN GOLD CUP AND DUNLOP TIRE NATIONAL ROAD RACERS AT NORTH AMERICAN KARTING CHAMPIONSHIPS

In an effort to reduce long lines at NAKC for those wishing to pick up their Gold Cup or Road Race pre-entries, WKA has opted to extend Pre-Entry Pickup / Pit Pass Sales at The Hilton - Charlotte University Place from 6-9 pm Thursday evening. There is still Pre-Entry Pickup / Pit Pass Sales at Lowe's Motor Speedway from 2-5 pm on Thursday, however, as always, lines will be long and aggravating for those just getting into town from a long drive.

By reserving your rooms at The Hilton - Charlotte University Place, you can come in off the road, get into your rooms, have dinner at The Hilton or a nearby restaurant and stop back at The Fountainview Room at the hotel sometime between 6-8 pm without the hassle of having to be at the Speedway by a certain time. This way, the next morning you can arrive at Lowe's Motor Speedway with pit passes already in hand, park, and be set to go racing!

Please be advised that we will ONLY be doing PRE-ENTRY PICKUP and PIT PASS SALES at The Hilton - Charlotte University Place on Thursday evening. No practice stickers or registration will be handled at this time. It needs to be taken care of inside Lowe's Motor Speedway beginning Friday morning at 7 am. Please refer to the official Pre-Entry / Event Information forms for more specific information or contact WKA Headquarters at 704.455.1606, ext. 10. See you in October!

RED BULL CHOOSES 6 FINALISTS TO COMPETE IN FINAL PHASE HELD IN PORTUGAL THIS OCTOBER

Intensity, passion, drive, and innate talent...that's what the following six guys have that helped Red Bull choose them as the finalists going to Portugal to test in the final round of the Red Bull Driver Search. Joe D'Agostino, Colin Fleming, Matt Jaskol, David Jurca, Dominique Claessens, and Travis Firing are vying for a seat with a leading team racing in a European junior series championship for 2004, with the ultimate goal to fill the void of American presence at the pinnacle of world motorsports, Formula 1.

The drivers will spend 5 days testing in F3 race cars. Danny Sullivan, head of the program, and a team of acclaimed European racing experts will assess the drivers to determine who will earn a seat with a leading team racing in a European junior-series championship for 2004. The number of drivers chosen all depends on the drivers themselves. In the previous round, ten were expected to be selected...six were. Red Bull may choose any number depending on each individual driver's performance in Europe.

WKA PARTNERS WITH JIM RUSSELL DRIVING SCHOOL

The World Karting Association and Jim Russell Driving School have partnered together to award a three-day Techniques of Racing School and one Competition Day in The Jim Russell Graduate Runoff presented by Yokohama to the driver with the most points in ICA and ICC at the end of the 2003 season of the George Kugler ManufacturerÕs Cup Series presented by Bridgestone. Should one of these champions win the Runoffs, they will race for free in 2004 in the Formula Russell Championship, the same series that Scott Speed won in 2001, (see www.jimrussellusa.com for full award payouts).

School dates are set for November 3 - 5, 2003 and the Runoffs are December 4 - 7, 2003 at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. For more information, contact the Jim Russell Driving School at 1.800.733.0345.
