SNAP-ON STARS OF KARTING SERIES DRIVERS HEAD TO WSK THIS WEEKEND

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA - (April 1, 2009) - The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series junior competitors will be well represented overseas this coming weekend as Kosmic pilot Tristan DeGrand and Tony Kart driver Gustavo Menezes will compete in the KF3 division. With the WSK event taking place at 7 Laghi Kart Srl. in Castelleto d' Orba, Italy, both drivers will look to finish up front in the main event while gaining the necessary experience to return to the United States and take a shot at the national championship.

Menezes, who is a constant Snap-on Stars of Karting front runner and two-time Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) Vice Champion, has traveled to compete in Europe on several different occasions. Racing with the Tony Kart Junior team in 2009, Menezes will do the bulk of his racing in the European karting scene as 18 events are planned throughout the season. The talented Californian has been overseas for the past two weeks taking part in test sessions as well as Tony Kart Junior Team programs.

Unlike Menezes, DeGrand will travel to Europe for event competition for the first time this weekend. A constant front runner in 2008, DeGrand and his Kosmic racing entry are expected to do well in Europe. DeGrand completed testing this past weekend with help from J3 Competition's Justin Stefani and will battle with Menezes and other pilots in the KF3 class.

"I have enjoyed watching all three of these drivers develop over the past few seasons," stated Snap-on Stars of Karting Series National Competition Director Kevin Williams. "Their accelerated achievements, especially the past two seasons, will certainly be a benefit to their competition experience in the WSK, and I am confident they will represent USA well."

Returning from European action is Sodi Kart's Andrick Zeen who competed in France this past weekend. Racing in the ultra competitive GPO Karting Series in the KF2 division, Zeen scored some top thirty results and some racing experience tha t is second to none.

"On behalf of myself and the whole Stars of Karting crew, I would like to wish Gustavo and Tristan the best of luck in their European adventure," stated series President Alan Rudolph.

The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series Western division opener will take place in three weeks time on April 23 - 26 at the Jim Russell Infineon Raceway Karting Center in Sonoma, California.
