WKA launches new logo on 09.09.09
09.09.2009 -- Over the past few months, you may have noticed an ad running in WKA's Karting Scene magazine and on WorldKarting.com reading, "09.09.09." With the date here, the World Karting Association is proud to introduce a new look of WKA in the form of a newly designed logo.
The WKA logo which members are currently familiar with was designed in the '90s when WKA moved to North Carolina. The WKA team felt the logo had become outdated and a new design would symbolize the many changes the organization will experience over the past and future months and years.
Many different concept versions of the logo were drawn up, but after careful thought and consideration, the WKA team decided the original logo was very well known and shouldn't be completely overhauled. The decision was made to look at the current logo and figure out what made it so dated. The overwhelming thought was the colors. The bright yellow and red were two of the aspects of the logo that were determined to be out of date.
So, starting from scratch, the logo was redesigned, keeping some of the old concepts while incorporating new ideas and designs.
In addition to the color changes, the founding date has been added to the top of the logo along with the tag line, "The Foundation of Motorsports" at the bottom of the logo.
For the first time, WKA will have special graphics available for Web sites of WKA members, master tracks, divisional and regional series and sponsors. Members interested in graphics may contact WKA's Keith Shampine at email@example.com or call 704-455-1606 Ext. 15. Master tracks, divisional, regional series and sponsors may contact WKA Creative Director Mike Traylor if you are interested in the new logo and graphics for a Web site or social networking page. Mike's e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 704-455-1606 Ext. 16. When e-mailing your request, please include the nature of your affiliation, a link to the Web site on which the graphic will appear and daytime contact information. Failure to do so may result in a delay of your request.
But the new logo is only the first of many new, exciting changes to take place over the coming months. These changes include the launching of a new Web site, which is currently in the works. There is still a great deal of work to be done to the new site, meaning WKA is unable to provide a launch date at this time.
2010 is sure to be an exciting year for World Karting and its members. Be sure to look for the new logo and other exciting changes coming in the near future.
