Mid-Ohio Road Race and Dexter Dirt Grand Nationals Highlight WKA's Month of June
05.20.2009 -- July through early October is mostly jam-packed for WKA with national events scheduled nearly every weekend throughout four-month stretch. Only two events are scheduled for the upcoming month of June, but they are both big ones.
The month will begin with the Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series driven by Mazda Grand Nationals at the popular Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. WKA has held national events at the 2.4-mile, 15-turn course for the past number of years, and a strong contingent of road racers has always gathered at the Midwest facility, providing the Road Racing Series' racers and supporters with competitive racing and good times.
The Ohio-based Dart Kart Club is again hosting the event. After three consecutive National Road Racing Series events in the Southeast to begin the 2009 season, the northern-based road racers will now have a few events a bit closer to home, beginning with the Mid-Ohio GN. A solid number of entries is expected for the event, which will see top Midwest and Northeast road racers challenge the WKA national series regulars in one of the most anticipated events of the season.
June will conclude with the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series' Jimmy Rivers Performance Works Grand Nationals June 26-28 at Dexter Raceway in Georgia. The race will mark the second of five 2009 Speedway Dirt Series events.
Dexter Raceway is a one-fifth-mile clay oval located in Dexter -- a central Georgia town off Interstate 16, about 50 miles southeast of Macon and 125 miles directly west of Savannah.
Pre-entries are now being accepted for the event. Entry blanks with all necessary information can be found by at www.worldkarting.com/pg/series/ds/ds-main.html.
More information regarding the event will follow in the coming weeks.
