Hanging Rock Dirt Opener Postponed; Rescheduled For August

03.25.2009 - With a forecast of rain predicted for the next few days, World Karting Association and Hanging Rock Officials have mutually elected to postpone the season opener for the Briggs and Stratton Speedway Dirt Series at Hanging Rock Kartway in Kershaw, South Carolina this weekend.

A combination of rain, showers, and thunderstorms are already in the Carolinas and will last through Saturday. While the Sunday forecast calls for better weather, the damage done to the racing surface, not to mention the surrounding parking area, will have taken it's toll, forcing yet another inconvenience to the competitors. Calling the event at this point in the week gives competitors the opportunity to make adjustments to their schedules and planning for this weekend.

With the announcement of the postponement, Hanging Rock and WKA Officials have agreed to reschedule the event for August 14-16, now stop #3 on the tour. The first event will now be the Bordeaux Dyno Cams Nationals April 24-26 at Margarettsville Speedway in North Carolina. The featured Money race, as well as the 7 national points classes running for a cash payout will continue at Margarettsville, with an even LARGER money purse already in the works for the Animal Heavy Class!!!!

Pre-Entries for the Hanging Rock event will be transferred over to the Margarettsville event.

WKA wishes to extend its apologies for any inconvenience created by virtue of this decision.
