Hanging Rock Dirt National To Host Friday Night Lights; Local Option Classes Adjusted
03.12.2009 - World Karting officials are proud to announce 3 major sponsors have stepped up to the plate to create a Friday Night Pro Money Class for the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series program, beginning with the series first event at Hanging Rock Kartway in Kershaw, South Carolina March 27-29.
Through the efforts of Briggs & Stratton Racing, Ultramax Racing Chassis, and Dixie Racing, drivers in the Briggs Animal Heavy class will take a shot at the $1,200 top money prize. The runnerup in the Friday night spectacular will receive $400 with 3rd place paying $300. The fourth and final paying position will receive $100.
Briggs Animal Heavy drivers will take to the track Friday evening for practice and qualifying in preparation for a shot at the top shelf on the podium. The event will be 25 laps in distance. Entry fee for the money class will be $40. WKA National rules apply.
The addition of the money class adds one more toy to the bag of special surprises, now busting at the seams. With the announcement earlier in the year of 7 national points classes running for money in the top three this season, as well as money being offered in the Local Option classes at Hanging Rock, the series first race is guaranteed to be a huge success. As a result of the Friday night money race, the Clone class will not be on the schedule of activities as a Local Option class during the weekend. However, the Briggs Medium and Heavy Flathead classes are still on board. Adding the money race, WKA guarantees 3 blockbuster Local Option classes for the weekend.
Activities will get underway with parking on Friday, beginning at noon. Tech and Pre Entry Pickup will get underway at 4pm with the Money race activity to follow. Saturday will be a full day of action with three rounds of practice, followed by qualifying and the main events, with a full day of action on Sunday as well.
