Speedway Dirt Series Schedule Complete; Stadium Discussions Continue

12.04.2008 - The long awaited and much anticipated 2009 national schedule for the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series has finally reached the finish line. Following the announcement to bypass the traditional December Florida date for this year, combined with a retooled layout of the 5-race schedule, WKA Officials are proud to announce the season opener for the series in late March at Low Country Kartway in Aynor, South Carolina.

From there the series will head to yet another popular facility in late April, making their way to Margarettsville Speedway in North Carolina for stop #2. Race #3 will mark a return to Dexter Raceway in Georgia in June for the series Grand National event. The 4th and 5th venues will be new faces to the national scene. Liberty Raceway in North Carolina will play host to a mid summer classic, with Hurricane Raceway in Alma, Georgia serving as the final stop, crowning the 2009 national champions.

If all goes well, the series will have but just a few months to gear up for a new racing season in 2010. Recently, very positive discussions continued between officials at Daytona International Speedway and World Karting regarding a return to Daytona Municipal Stadium in an effort to revive the famed Dirt World Championships. With an event of this magnitude, many details need to be ironed out following an absence from the facility for a few years. However, talks are heading in an extremely positive direction, lending hope to a return of the most famous dirt race in the history of the sport.

With the announcement of the Speedway Dirt Series schedule, the entire national schedule for 2009 for all series has now been finalized. For a complete view of your favorite series schedule, visit www.WorldKarting.com.
