Rage Karts Speedway Pavement Series Completes Second Trip To Chapel Hill
08.28.2008 -- The Rage Karts Speedway Pavement Series held their fourth of five events in the 2008 season at the Chapel Hill Raceway in Humphrey, NY this past weekend. This is the second trip for the pavement drivers to the fast, paved oval track this season. Although the number of entries was not as high as expected, there was plenty of action, both on and off the track; and as always, the friendly staff and track owners welcomed competitors.
The big winner of the weekend was Tyler Strickland. He celebrated his birthday weekend by taking the win in all four events that he had entered. Tyler won the Jammer Clutches Briggs Jr Champ Lite class, Extreme Karts Supply Briggs Jr Champ Heavy class, and Briggs Jr Champ Raptor class Finals 1 & 2. There were three other multiple winners in the weekend. Kyle Soper topped the podium in the Kevin Smith Racing Engines Briggs Jr Sportsman 2 Lite and Briggs Jr Sportsman 2 Heavy classes. Patrick Robertson was the winner in the Bonsignore Kart Shoppe Briggs Jr Sportsman 2 Champ Lite and Briggs Jr Sportsman 2 Champ Heavy classes. And not to be outdone, Ryan Kendall was the first to cross the checkered in the Fab4 Fiberglass, Inc. Briggs Lite and Briggs Medium classes.
Everyone in the WKA racing community would like to wish Elijah Rios a speedy recovery and we all hope to see him at the series season finale in October. Elijah was involved in a bicycle accident on Friday of the race weekend. We have received reports that he had been released from the hospital on Sunday and will be resting at his home.
The next event for the Speedway Pavement Series will be the Mobsteel Nationals on October 3 -- 5, 2008. The season finale event will be held at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex in Wampum, PA.
