The 9th Annual WKA/North American Karting Championships is in the record books as 25 states and Canada converged at the Lowe's Motor Speedway ready for competition this past weekend. SpeedChannel was in attendance during the Briggs & Stratton 300 and covered the event on the SpeedNews TV program. The event was action packed with racing on the sprint track, 1/4-mile, and the 2.25 mile infield road course. WKA would like to thank all those who came and participated. Congratulations to all the winners!

Congratulations go out to the sixteen Skip Barber Scholarship picks for 2002. The drivers are Michael Abbate, Nick Bussell, Matt Champagne, Joe D'Agostino, Jonathan Fecteau, Chris Festa, Phillip Gelinas, Matt Jaskol, David Jurca, Tony Loniewski, Derek McEwen, Benny Moon, Tim O'Brien, Adam Pecorari, Preston Peebles and James Willis. WKA is very proud to say that fourteen of the sixteen drivers have WKA karting experience and would like to thank Skip Barber for their continued support with this program.

The WKA Office Team has a new member. Amanda Gaunder has been brought on board as our Administrative Assistant. Amanda is a graduate of Akron University in Akron, Ohio. She has been a racing enthusiast all her life. She was very involved in the operation of this year's North American Karting Championships.
