Vielgut and Jewell take WKA titles for National Kart Supply
HUBERTUS, Wis., (November 26, 2006) - The National Kart Supply Haase racing team wrapped up a successful 2006 racing season with two WKA national championships in the Manufacturer's Cup series. Mark Vielgut brought home the title in TaG, while Jeff Jewell was victorious in Yamaha Masters. After missing the first race in Daytona, Mark Vielgut began his season in fine fashion by clean sweeping the event at Charlotte, taking pole and victory in both the pre-final and final. An accident in the pre-final at South Bend forced Vielgut to start the main in 27th. Putting aside the earlier bad luck, Mark moved through the field to finish on the podium in 5th. The season finale at Badger Raceway saw Vielgut pilot his Haase Future chassis to 2nd place in the final, enough to take the TaG championship by 60 points.
Jeff Jewell's 2006 campaign got off to a flying start with a clean sweep victory at the season opener in Daytona. Carrying over that momentum into Charlotte, Jewell maintained control of the championship by taking his second victory of the season. A solid run to 4th aboard his Haase Future chassis in South Bend left him well placed for the final race of the season. The Yamaha Masters championship was secured by driving his new Haase Spirit chassis to a 2nd place finish at Badger Raceway.
Following the successes of the 2006 season, the National Kart Supply team is looking forward to more victories in 2007. Driver support programs for both the WKA Manufacturer's Cup and Midwest Sprint Series will be available next season. Those interested in joining the NKS/Haase team should contact us to find out more.
