Jimmy Heavlow looks to Maintain Hot Start in Illinois
GALENA, MD. - Coming into the third round of the WKA Horstman Gold Cup National series, Jimmy Heavlow is riding a wave of momentum.
In Horstman national competition, Jimmy competes in 4 classes in 2 divisions and has an impressive 5 wins in 8 starts total. His classes include the light and heavy races in both the Briggs Junior Restricted, and Briggs Junior Stock divisions. His season has been a quest to add more to a resume that already includes 3 WKA titles from last year.
Jimmy's last race came in a Legends car at a track he had never seen before - Southside Speedway. To make a tough situation worse, heavy traffic slowed the tow and forced him to miss the practice sessions. The handicap didn't seem to slow him much as he started the race from sixth position. He was able to move up a spot and run a solid fifth for the whole race. When the checkered waved he was in fifth, but unfortunately he had lost a couple spots due to a mistiming on the final restart.
This weekend's races will be at the Concepts Haulers Motor Speedway in Sheridan, Illinois. While many of his competitors consider this a home track, this is Jimmy's first time there, providing an extra challenge. He will get on track for the first time during Friday practice. On Saturday, the Briggs Junior Restricted light and heavy races will take the green.
Then on Sunday, Jimmy will try to keep his winning streak going in the Briggs Junior Stock light and heavy races will be run. This weekend will also have Jimmy debut his new custom karting suit, provided by Awesome Racewear.
