Tough weekend in Wisconsin
Vancouver, British Columbia -- August 15, 2007 -- Multi-time karting champion and Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) pilot Scott Rossi had a very tough weekend at the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series event in Shawano, Wisconsin. After running near the top of the time sheets during Friday's official practice, Rossi encountered problems on both event days.
After a tough qualifying session and prefinal, Rossi progressed through the field and was running inside the top five. Catching the second place competitor, Rossi was pushing hard before a bottom end failure which was the result of a bad crank seal. Rossi was forced to retire from the event but not until after he set one of the quickest laps of the event.
Looking for better luck on Sunday, Rossi was still in the hunt for the east championship. Another difficult qualifying session placed Rossi mid-pack where he would be forced to battle hard with drivers that he was not accustomed to being around. Again motor issues plagued Rossi in the prefinal as Scott and crew went to work to figure it out. Running stronger in the final, Rossi was eventually taken out of contention by a fellow competitor.
"It was a disappointing weekend for us," explained Scott Rossi. "Our motor issues killed us and once we figured them out it was to late to mount any sort of challenge. We have to re-group and stay focused as we are still in contention for the West coast title." Rossi went on to add "Even though this was a terrible weekend we are still having fun and learning a lot and there is no other place that I would rather be."
With almost a month off to the next national level event Rossi will hit the test track in preparations for the next Snap-on Stars of Karting race that will take place September 14-16th at Moran raceway in beautiful Beaumont, California.
