Two podiums for Rossi in Indiana
Vancouver, British Columbia -- May 23, 2007 -- Multi-time karting champion and Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) pilot Scott Rossi scored two podium results this past weekend at the Snap-on Stars of Karting event in New Castle, Indiana. The Champion Racing/Leading Edge Motorsports driver has shown why he is a threat for the overall national championship scoring four top ten results in the first four events.
With nothing but beautiful weather for the weekend's action, Rossi and his Champion Racing team looked to dial in the setup that would drive them to victory. Working with the tuners from the Italian factory team, Rossi was able to put forth his best results of this young 2007 racing season.
Saturday's qualifying session was a little disappointing for the British Columbia resident as he found himself just outside the top ten in the 11th position. Looking to score a strong result in the pre-final and setup a great starting position for the feature event, Rossi advanced four positions to finish in P7. Rossi and his team when back to work on the kart and motor package as they would look to again improve their finishing position and points championship position in Saturday's final. After one red flag and when the dust had settled on the competitive JICA field, Rossi found himself in the third position claiming his second Stars of Karting podium this season.
Sunday's racing action went a little better for the 15-year-old pilot as Rossi found himself in the third position after the morning qualifying session. Looking to finish in the top five in the pre-final and set up a chance to steal the main event victory, Rossi did just as planned coming home in P4 and starting on the outside of row two for the feature race. With the race running an intense pace, Rossi worked quickly to move inside the top three and set his sights on the lead duo. A mid-race pass into the second spot would advance Rossi one more position but with the laps winding down, he was unable to catch the eventual winner and had to settle for the second step on the podium. Rossi was able to take the fastest race lap as he claimed that on his final circuit.
Rossi has had three podium results and four top tens in as many races this season and has settled himself nicely into the championship point's chase.
With almost a month off to the next national level event Rossi will hit the test track in preparations for the next Snap-on Stars of Karting race that will take place July 6-8th at Miller Motorsport Park in Tooele, UT.
