Seattle, WA -- Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by IndyCar Series announced today that the provisional results for the Saturday ICC race at Miller Motorsports Park are now finalized after receipt of acceptable ignition testing results.
Following the Saturday main event at MMP on July 6, the ignition systems of competitors Gary Carlton and Nick Halen were confiscated and later delivered for third party testing. The results of the race were posted provisional pending test results. For the Sunday event, Stars-owned ignition systems were handed out to both Carlton and Halen along with other chosen competitors.
Scott G Evans, National Technical Director explained, "We have looked at most every aspect of our competitors' karts throughout the season, including visual, functional and electrical testing of the ignition systems. Prior to the Miller event, one thing lacking was verification of the ignitions' spark advance curve and voltage output. The results in hand today will help to dispel any rumors of irregularities in this area."
All competitors in Stars intercontinental classes are mandated the use of standard ignition systems, documented by the FIA and prohibited from modification. Testing was performed by Penton Racing Products in Amherst, OH, national importer for PVL ignition products. All documented aspects of the ignition systems were compared to the documentation and tested alongside a controlled unit. All parameters were found within tolerance. An approval report is available upon request. Actual readings of the tests will remain confidential by regulation.
Series president, Paul Zalud said, "I have every confidence in our technical staff and the technical propriety of our series. The unusual nature of parts confiscation for outside testing was predicated by our inability to fully test ignition systems in the field. The test results validate the technical integrity of our program. We thank Team PCH Motorsports and their competitors for their cooperation, patience and understanding."
Carlton lies in first place for both eastern and western divisions after having won every main event thus far this season. Teammate Halen is a top flight competitor in both east and west divisions. The final eastern division race is August 3-5 at USA International Raceway in Shawano, WI.
The final western division race is at Moran Speedway in Beaumont, CA, September 14-16. The series final is scheduled for Oct 19-21 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV.
