Seattle, WA (February 8, 2006): North American karting legend Memo Gidley and his Secrets of Speed Book Series have signed on as sponsors of the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL. The program will see an exclusive "Memo Gidley Secrets of Speed Performance Tip" published on the www.stasrsofkarting.com website every month. In addition, four karters from the PCH Motorsports JICA category determined to have the talent, character, and determination to succeed in motorsport in the face of long odds will be selected by an impartial panel. These four junior pilots will receive a one-day karting clinic with Memo Gidley at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex on the Monday following the FIA-CIK North American Championships (Monday, October 23).

"I am really proud to be part of the STARS program because I am always a big supporter of karting," states Memo Gidley, pilot of the #19 Uniden Racing Daytona Prototype. "Its my experience that the guys at the front of the karting scene already have great support and usually a lot of resources to help them win. When I first started in Karting, I was the opposite. All I had was my strong work ethic and determination that got me results and helped move me to the top of the sport. Because of this, I like to work with drivers that even though they may not have all the money of the front guys, they make up for it with their desire and the dedication to be the best. I look forward to helping these drivers; that's important to me," continues Gidley as he prepares for the next round of the ROLEX Sports Car Series.

With a professional racing career spanning many forms of open wheel, sports car and endurance racing, MG has never forgotten his roots in karting. The Secrets of Speed book series created by Memo Gidley is an important part of supporting karting and helping to grow the sport. It is this same commitment and passion for excellence that will guide the Performance Tips available on the www.starsofkarting.com website over the coming months. These tips will be insights into the world of high performance professional motorsports.

"There is really no better ambassador for the sport of karting than Memo Gidley. He has risen to the top of motorsport based solely on his talent, hard work, and the assistance of those who have helped him due to his good nature and excellent character. I'm glad that he has aligned with our series, and will spend a day with four of our drivers who show that they are hungry to succeed," states Paul Zalud, President of STARS of Karting.

Secrets of Speed Publications have published three unique best selling books on karting. These include Shifter Kart Racing, Two-cycle Kart Racing and most recently, Four-cycle Kart Racing. This past January, Memo Gidley co-wrote a new introductory karting book for Motorbooks International to be release in April 2006. The next titles to be published by Secrets of Speed include Speedway Kart Racing and Junior Kart Racing.
