CHECKERED FLAG RACING AND TRUE NORTH MOTORSPORTS PERFORM WELL IN SONOMA
"First Kart's sweep championship podium in Spec Racer"
Chilliwack, BC. -- August 23, 2006 -- British Columbia resident and Checkered Flag Racing (CFR) pilot Devon Sandeen scored another podium result this past weekend at the Stars of Karting event in Sonoma, CA. With the result, Sandeen secured the Stars of Karting West championship in the Spec Racer division. Along with Sandeen, the combined four driver Spec Racer squad scored four top ten results in what was a great weekend of competition
Saturday's action produced some tough results for CFR and True North Motorsports as Nicholas Fairney scored the best result in the 8th position. Senior level rookie Max Riddle, who just graduated from Junior Intercontinental A (JICA), scored a solid top ten as he began to get use to his new package. Sandeen and Arly Irish had some tough luck as they finished well down the running order in 20th and 22nd respectively.
Sunday provided the team with much better results. National championship contender Devon Sandeen garnered a podium position and in doing so, put himself in great contention to win the overall series crown. Young Max Riddle worked hard throughout the weekend and came home in P4 just narrowly missing what would have been his first career Stars of Karting podium. Fairney, scored another top fifteen finish coming home in 12th while Irish improved on Saturday's result to finish 21st. All Spec Racer drivers were utilizing First Kart chassis with Fellner Parilla Power.
"It was another good weekend for the whole Checkered Flag Racing, True North Motorsport and FirstKart.com operations," explained George Fellner. "Between the three of us we claimed several podium positions, two divisional championships (JICA and Spec Racer) as well as secured the first three positions in the Spec Racer West coast championship."
