CAMERON MOTORSPORTS STARS OF KARTING PREVIEW
"Drivers will be aboard CRG and Maranello chassis"
Hamilton, Ontario -- April 2, 2008 -- The Cameron Motorsports (CMI) elite karting team along with CRG and Maranello will head to the sunshine state for the first round of the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series. With the first event taking place at the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida, the CMI squad will look to claim victories in almost every class of competition.
Heading up the team will be a quartet of Intercontinental C (ICC) drivers that come from across North America. Canadians Michael Vincec and David Ostella will team with Ohioan David Carmendy and Texan Cody Jolly in the hopes of claiming victory and a great start to the national championship chase. Vincec, Carmendy and Jolly will be aboard CRG chassis while Formula BMW rookie David Ostella will steer his Maranello kart at the OGP facility.
Vincec, Jolly and Ostella have been on track in '08 as all three drivers competed in the Florida Winter Tour. Both Jolly and Vincec claimed podium positions two weeks ago at the OGP facility and hope that the track direction change will provide them with the same results. Look for the CMI drivers to be at the front of the pack.
Looking to battle in the revamped Stars TaG class will be Ontario, Canada's Enrico Menotti. Menotti competed at the Florida Winter Tour in the Rotax DD2 division and had several strong runs eventually claiming a ninth place finish in the series championship.
Cameron Motorsports will enter two drivers in the junior divisions as Jeffery May will compete in the ultra competitive Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) class and Kurtis De Boer will challenge in Cadet. May, who was the Canadian National Champion in the F1K Junior class, will look to take those driving and tuning techniques to the front of the JICA field in Stars competition. De Boer is a young up and comer competing in only his fourth national race to date but will look to battle with the countries best in the tight Cadet field.
Joining the team for the western division championship will be Australian pilot Scott Saunders. Saunders will switch from the Rotax class that he competed in at the Florida Winter Tour to the new Stars TaG class. Look for Saunders to be in contention for the win in Utah.
"We have a great group of drivers under the CMI tent," explained Cameron Motorsports Danielle Duffy. "Our ICC pilots are all veterans and should be good leaders to our rookie drivers. I am confident that we will be able to battle for victories in Ocala and throughout the 2008 season."
