CAMERON MOTORSPORTS: CODY JOLLY MORAN REVIEW
"Podium on Saturday"
Hamilton, Ontario -- September 24, 2007 -- Cameron Motorsports Intercontinental A (ICA) driver Cody Jolly had a set of strong runs at the latest Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by IndyCar Series event that was held at Moran Raceway. Jolly claimed the second step in Saturday's podium and was set to claim Sunday's victory until an on track incident took him out of contention.
After qualifying ninth in Saturday morning's qualifying session, Jolly was looking to move forward in the prefinal. Battling with some of the nation's best, the young Texan moved to the fifth position setting up a row three starting position for the final. The final went just as planned for Jolly as he made his moves early to work his way into the top three eventually claiming the second position when the checkered flag flew.
Looking to better his position by one in Sunday's action, Jolly started improving as soon as the first timed session hit the track. Jolly circuited Moran Raceway with the sixth quickest time in Sunday's qualifying and improved that position in the prefinal to come home third.
Always a threat for victory, Jolly moved to the lead early and proceeded to fight for the victory. Jolly put down fast consistent race laps as he and one other fellow competitor drew away from the rest of the field. While setting the fastest lap of the event, Jolly began to defend his position as the duo of drivers came to the white flag. Looking as if he had another podium position in the bag, Jolly was involved in a controversial incident on the final circuit that took him out of the event and cost him the West division championship in ICA
"Cody and his dad do an amazing job and we were in constant phone communication to ensure everything was going well" explained Cameron Motorsports Team Manager Trevor Wickens. "The Jolly's made the trip to Moran Raceway and performed well. Cody put the Cameron Motorsports colors on the West coast podium and has represented us well all season long, we are looking forward to Las Vegas!"
