Seattle , WA -- (December 5, 2006) : Team Topkart USA has assembled a stellar squad for the upcoming All-Stars Karting Classic at the PRI Show. The team will be led by IndyCar/ALMS pilot Bryan Herta racing in the Masters Division.
Herta, the founder of the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL, sees the event as a fun way to bring together many of the objectives of the series, "I can't wait for this event. This is something that's really going to let us expose karting on a broader level to the motorsports industry. I want to thank Mike, Kimball, and the Topkart squad for the great support. We're going to be gunning for the top."
Herta's Topkart will be tuned by Kimball Williams, one of North America's top karting tuners. The pair just completed a test of their equipment in California.
In the Karter division, Kyle Wiegand, Matt Jaskol, Pat Iannucci and Conor Daly will be representing Team Topkart USA. All drivers will be aboard the Flash chassis powered by Parilla Leopards.
"The All-Stars Karting Classic will be an awesome opportunity show the motorsports community the excitement of karting," commented Team Manager Chris Wehrheim. "We have assembled a great team and look forward to showcasing the Topkart chassis and our drivers." Mike Tetreault, the owner of Team Topkart USA is not only excited to have Herta on board, but also to showcase some of the talent he's been supporting all year, "It's great to have Bryan racing with us at this event. We're also very excited for so many people to get to see the young talents like Kyle Wiegand, Matt Jaskol, Pat Ianucci, and Conor Daly that we've assembled in the Karter Division," said Tetreault.
The All-Stars Karting Classic showcases a lineup that includes Marco Andretti (IRL), Bryan Herta (IRL), Buddy Rice (IRL), Tomas Scheckter (IRL), Alex Tagliani (ChampCar), Ron Capps (NHRA), Doug Herbert (NHRA), Memo Gidley (Grand-Am), Wayne Taylor (Grand-Am), and Larry Dixon (NHRA) as competitors in the Masters Division.
The top pilots from the Karting Division will have the chance to advance to race against the Masters Division drivers in the evening's Grand Finale. The race will be organized by the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL and filmed for two separate one-hour broadcasts on the Versus Network (OLN) with Snap-on advertising support. The featured teams at the event will be the SSC East, First Kart North America, Trackmagic, Tony Kart USA, Sodi Racing USA, Topkart USA, and BTK-Arrow teams from the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL. The racers will utilize karts with the popular 125-cc electric start spec engines that have proliferated the marketplace in recent years. Series title sponsor Snap-on Tools has also stepped up to support the event on multiple levels as have Bridgestone, Douglas Wheels and Alpinestars.
Racing action will start at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 14 on a temporary track constructed adjacent to the Convention Center. Show attendees will be able to progress straight from the PRI Trade Show's Happy Hour directly out to the racing action.
