Parrott shows his potential at British Kart Championship opener

Crowland kart racer Jason Parrott recovered from some unlucky heat races to take a 6th and a 4th place in the opening British Championship double- header. Held this weekend at the Three Sisters circuit near Wigan, Jason's class Formula A is the pinnacle of karting worldwide.

In the first race, he came through from 8th on the grid and was catching the leaders, only for a bolt to come out of his steering column. His 4th position was achieved while cruising round holding the wheel in place!

In race two, the team made a few alterations to the kart meaning Jason had the speed to lead for several laps, but his engine began to lose power on the straights, dropping him back to 6th. This was an exciting race, with five different drivers sharing the lead over the 18 laps.

Former champion Gary Catt and Formula A debutante Riki Christodoulou won the races but Jason now lays equal 3rd in the championship with another five events to go.

"Although I've had some bad luck and I'm disappointed, I have shown I have the speed and I should still be challenging for the championship", said the Gerald White Group-supported driver.
