20th Anniversary of the Tulsa Shootout this Weekend
TULSA, Okla. (December 29, 2004) -- The racing stars of the future will take to the clay inside the Tulsa Expo Center this weekend for the 20th Anniversary of the Tulsa Shootout presented by Brodix.
Approximately 1,200 entries from 23 states across the nation, from California to Connecticut and all points in between, have flocked to Tulsa this weekend for racing action in Micros, Karts and Quads.
A handful of drivers will use the Tulsa Shootout as a tune-up for next weekend's 19th Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals. Drivers entered in both events include California's Darrin Bolton, Texas racer Conner Pullen and Oklahoma drivers Dustin Morgan, Brady Bacon and Kevin Bayer.
A number of drivers will be on hand to defend 2004 Tulsa Shootout titles, including Micro racers Rodney Stealy (600cc Multis), Brady Bacon (A Class) and Ronnie James (Non-Wing). 2004 Junior Sprint winner Dustin Rhodes has graduated to the Restricted "A" Class, while 2004 Restricted "A" winner Ben Dover shoots for two in a row.
Chad Waller will try to match or exceed his two victory performance in 2004 Kart action, with other returning Kart winners including Joe Womochil, Nick Higdon, Mike Dickerson, Justin Lindsey, Bryan Nevin, Don Young and Ross Bohmann.
Quad king Gregg Bakker looks to add to the thirteen Golden Driller trophies he's accumulated in Pro Quad competition since 1994, while '04 250 Amateur Quad winner has graduated to the Pro Quad ranks for '05.
Practice for the Tulsa Shootout presented by Brodix takes place on Thursday, with heat races beginning at 9:00 a.m. Friday. Semi's begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, with main events slated to get under way at 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
Pit passes are $20 on both Thursday and Friday, with Saturday's pit passes just $25. The grandstands open for Saturday's main events at 5:00 p.m., with admission $15 for Adults and only $5 for children.
