Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels welcomes three new Canadian champions at Mosport this weekend! De Heus, Di Leo and Herder enter round five as Canadian champions
MOSPORT, ONTARIO -- This weekend, the penultimate round of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels will take place at Mosport International Raceway on the Driver Development Course. For at least three of the drivers, Uxbridge's Aaron de Hues, Marham's Marco Di Leo and Stouffville's Pearce Herder, they will be racing as newly crowned Canadian Champions as each won their class last weekend at the ASN Canada FIA Karting Nationals.
Herder, who has already clinched the Canada Junior Heavy class, still has a bit of work left to claim the Rotax Max Jr title as he is 50 points behind Evan Hayden. Eric Barrett is second. Di Leo, who is still undefeated in Rotax Max Sr. competition, has a slight lead over Robert Wickens and Ashley Hiltz. He also leads Canada Senior Light over de Heus and Jennifer Rempel. De Heus has a solid lead in Canada Senior Heavy over Dave Patrick and Jennifer Rempel.
In the headline shifter classes, the Formula Senior battle will go down to the final race -- probably the final lap like last year. Heading into this weekend, Mike Roth leads Tyler Givogue and Cale Meeks -- with only 10 points separating the top three. Formula Junior is still all Daniel Morad, and he is looking to seal the championship this weekend. He has a gigantic lead over Michael Vincec and Maxime Pelletier.
The World Formula Senior class, Corey Usher leads Jason Carvahlo and Adriano Bilotta, while in Junior William Keatings has a good lead over Scott Laporte and Matt Jackson.
Canada Junior Light is a tight battle between Keenan Harris and Taylor Holdaway, both of whom are tied for the points lead. Third is JonMichael Ostella.
Practice for all classes is on Friday, with races on both Saturday and Sunday. For a complete daily schedule, visit www.asncanada.com, and for directions to Mosport, visit www.mosport.com
