Robert Wickens wins Rotax Max Senior finale, earn selection to Evaluation Day

Innisfil, Ontario Etobicoke's Robert Wickens collected a much deserved win in the season finale of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels. Wickens had the pole for the Rotax Max Senior race and went on to win the final in convincing fashion.

"It was good to get a win for our team," Wickens said. "It has been a long, tough year not only for me, but for our whole team and to leave here with a win feels great."

Wickens led the final from the drop of the green flag, and by the end of the 25th lap, he had a 5.307 second lead. "It was tough here," Wickens said. "The track is tight and it was quite a long race. I paced myself and just built on the lead. Finally this year we have a win."

At the end of the day, the series officials announced the ten drivers from the series that had been selected to attend the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels Evaluation Day, which will be held on October 8. Wickens was one of the ten drivers selected.

"To get this invitation was my goal for this year," Wickens said. "After having a taste of formula cars last week in Spain, I can't wait for the Evaluation Day. I really have no expectations going in, but I hope that I can do well."
