"Gerrits and Montieth claim titles"

Guelph, ON. -- September 18, 2006 -- The FirstKart.com race team secured one victory, five podiums and two championships this past weekend in the final round of the 2006 Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship (SRFKC) held at Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario. Scoring championship titles were Rotax Senior standout Eric Gerrits and junior competitor Kevin Montieth.

On the strength of two previous victories and five podiums, Gerrits entered the final round needing a top eight finish to claim the title. Playing it safe throughout the final and trying to keep his nose clean, Gerrits used his head and moved forward into the top five eventually coming home in the fourth position. The 2005 Canadian National Champion secured the title and with that, was selected to go to the Sunoco Ultra 94 Evaluation Day at the Bridgestone/Firestone Racing Academy. Eric Gerrits Racing and his family also took home the Pratt and Miller Team Spirit Award for the weekends work.

FirstKart.com's other championship came from junior sensation Kevin Montieth. The talented Stouffville resident used the home track advantage to make a last lap move and drive off to victory. Pulling double duty, Montieth also competed in the Rotax Junior class steering his Rotax powered First Kart to the second position.

Mississauga's Neelan Nadesan was another FirstKart.com competitor who competed in two classes coming home with two top ten results. After qualifying on the pole in Canada Junior, Nadesan had trouble in the pre-final falling back to tenth position before rebounding in the final to come home fourth. Nadesan also had his work cut out for him in the Rotax Junior final where he started outside the top ten and drove to a very solid sixth.

Caitlin Johnson had another terrific weekend in the Formula Senior division where she came home in the fifth position. The Warp 9 driver finished the SRFKC season with two top five results after claiming the Mosport Kart Club Formula Senior championship. Ms. Johnson will join Gerrits as the duo will represent FirstKart.com at the Sunoco Ultra 94 Evaluation Day at the Bridgestone/Firestone Racing Academy.

Next on tap for the FirstKart.com race team is the Stars of Karting finale -- Woodbine Grand Prix being held in Toronto, Ontario
