SKUSA Western Zone ProMoto Tour tackles Karting Center this weekend at Sears Point.

SONOMA, Calif. - Sears Point Raceway will host the second round of the Super Karts USA (SKUSA) Western Zone ProMoto Series this weekend at the newly unveiled Sears Point Karting Center. SKUSA is North America's premier shifter-kart sanctioning body.

The ProMoto Tour, in its fourth year, presents the superstars of North American shifter-kart racing. These pilots are the future stars of open-wheel road racing, with their karts being powered by "supercross" motorcycle engines with six-speed transmissions. Tops speeds are 100 mph.

Racers will come from all over the western United States to compete in this weekend's ProMoto Tour, considered one of the most prestigious karting series in the country. A few of the ProMoto Tour's graduates are now competing in the Toyota Atlantic Series, the feeder series for CART.

The shifter-karts will reach speeds of 90 mph on Sears Point's state-of-the-art 16-turn, three-quarter mile surface. Practice for the weekend begins on Friday, with qualifying and main events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 9 a.m. each day.

Cost is $8 for adults, while children ages 12 and under are free (accompanied by an adult). Pit passes are also available for an additional $10. For more information, call 800-831-KART or visit www.russellracing.com.
