Irwindale, Calif. - - Irwindale Speedway's first-ever professional Karting event will take pace on the Speedway's fast and sinuous infield road course on Sunday August 13. Promoted and sanctioned by the Mission Region of SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA), a nationwide professional Karting organization, the race this Saturday is expected to draw some 60 to 70 "Shifter-Kart" racers to the specially-prepared road course that will use elements of both oval tracks as well as the wide, flat infield at Irwindale.

Qualifying for the races will begin at 11:00 a.m. with racing commencing at 12:30 p.m. Although the main grandstands will be open for fans purchasing a $10.00 pit pass to view the racing activities.

This event will be the sixth race in an eight race championship series. For virtually all of the racers it will be their first run on the facility. "The teams are going to have to work hard to find the set-up for the new Irwindale course," said John Clasen, SKUSA Region Director. "This will be a great experience for our drivers, learning to read a completely new course quickly and getting their Karts ready for racing on a circuit that they've never even seen."
