National championship series brings sport's finest to new kart track
SONOMA, CA-- Pro-level shifterkart racing heads to the new Sears Point karting facility in Sonoma, CA this weekend as the Superkarts! USA North America ProMoto Tour Western Championship comes to town for the second round of its three-race national championship schedule. The weekend's events consist of a full day of official practice on Friday followed by two complete and separate race days on Saturday and Sunday. Each day is packed with a full slate of events, beginning with qualifying and ending with five exciting 20-mile finals.
Shingle Springs, CA's Benny Moon leads the West Coast championship in the headline SuperPro class after a double-podium finish at the season opener in Phoenix, AZ that included his first career series victory. Running with CART star Paul Tracy's squad aboard Tracy's signature chassis, Moon showed poise and consistency, scoring a runner-up finish in Saturday's event before capping the weekend with a wild last-lap pass for the win on Sunday. With the series heading to his home region for Round #2, the 16-year-old driver will be on the hunt for similar success.
Full results from all of the on-track sessions will be posted from the track to the SKUSA ProMoto Tour website-- www.promototour.com
