Jackpot for Intrepid in Las Vegas
On the Las Vegas podium of the 12th "Skusa SuperNationals" final, the two Intrepid drivers Jordy Vorrath and Jeremy Iglesias were very proud to show the cheques given to the best drivers in the Super Pro category, the top category of the weekend.
The already long list of successful results in 2008 both at an international level and in many countries all over the world was further enriched by Intrepid's excellent performance. Very well represented on the other side of the Atlantic thanks to the dynamism of local importers and distributors, the Italian brand dominated the competition held in the parking area of Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, which hosted one of the most important kart events of the season in America.
"After the very promising tests we performed on different Italian circuits, now the new chassis (soon to be homologated) has also proved to be very competitive", said a delighted Jeremy Iglesias. "I am very happy about our brand new braking system. It is both very powerful and easy to control, with excellent pedal feeling. I think that in 2009 Intrepid users will simply love it".
In the Super Pro (which is equivalent to the KZ1), Jeremy fought hard in the leading pack, exactly like a very fast Canadian driver, Jordy Vorrath. Vorrath also won a heat, then climbed on the second step of the podium in the final. "It was a very exciting race", said the best driver from North America in this legendary place of Las Vegas. "I was very happy about the performance of my Intrepid-TM kart, because I was able to remain less than 1 tenth of a second away from champions like Thonon, who has just conquered the European Championship and the World Cup". As for Iglesias, he found Vorrath on the podium again. "Jordy was determined to make sparks fly in front of his large American public in Las Vegas. When I saw that he was just behind me and trying to pass, I decided not to oppose too much resistance, I did not want to com- promise a good result for Intrepid. Then he passed me and Carlton took advantage of the situation. I knew that the first five would be on the podium in Las Vegas, so I decided to stick to my 4th place. For me, the fundamental thing was to make sure that the work we had done on the new 2009 chassis had been fruitful".
Young Norman Nato also showed an excellent performance at the wheel of his Intrepid-TM: he climbed from 23rd to 7th rank with the second best time in race, just 6 thousands of a sec. away from the best! This means that there were three Intrepid drivers in the top seven. As for the other categories, several Intrepid drivers competed brilliantly, for example Brett Felkins and Bryce Cornet (2nd and 5th respectively in TaG B-main), Joey Wimsett (5th in TaG), Andrew Zimmer (4th in S1), Craig Sender and Steve Perdue (4th and 5th in S4) and Jack French (pole position in S5). A good overall result in the US...
Comments by Mirko Sguerzoni, in charge of Intrepid
"My team and I, as well as all those who work at the factory and who contributed to developing our 2009 range, were very pleased to see two Intrepid drivers on the podium. In Las Vegas we used our brand new chassis and all Intrepid drivers were very happy about it. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Jordy Vorrath most warmly: he was second and was the best North American driver in the Super Pro".
