"Steve Welk Announces Plans to run the 2002 Skip Barber Formula Dodge National Championship"

Franklin, WI. - Steve Welk has announced his plans to contest in the 2002 Skip Barber Formula Dodge National Championship. After finding success in the Formula Dodge regional championship last year, and competing in the Barber CART Scholarship program, Steve has decided to take on the full national championship this season.

Steve has distinguished himself as one of the top karters in the nation over the last few years. Steve competed twice in the Karting World Championships and has won several national championship events. Now he will make his first attempt at a full time car program in 2002.

"I am really looking forward to the first race of the championship at Laguna Seca. I know that the competition at these races is incredibly strong and I am prepared for the challenge. I have wanted to make my transition into cars for sometime now and I feel that the Formula Dodge National championship is the best way to go. Right now I am actively searching for marketing partners to secure the budget for the championship."

Steve also is trying to finalize plans to contest in select karting events throughout the year.
