Jonatan and Can Artam Jonatan Jorge returns to racing tracks in New York. Brazilian driver Jonatan Jorge (Pitbull Energy Drink and Montoya Racing) will return to go-kart tracks again this coming Sunday (22-SEP-02) in Batavia, New York.
The race is part of the 5th (and last) event of the Manufacturer's Cup Grandnationals.
Jorge, who comes from a brilliant participation in the Regional Series of the Formula Dodge - where he captured the Rookie of the Year title along with being the Championship's runner-up - now awaits for Skip Barber's decision regarding the participants in the "shoot-out" (a selective event from which the winner is awarded a fully-paid season in the Formula Dodge National Series).
"It has been a really good year, with a lot of activities. As it is costumary here in the U.S., this is a transitional period without much official activity because the championships are mostly finished. I received an invitation from Italian chassis manufacturer Marikart, through its distributor KartSpeed, to participate in this event of great importance and exposure in the U.S. scene. I'm being evaluated by many [formula] teams to engage in distinct formula series, but there's nothing set in stone yet... so being 'showcased' in a race like the one this weekend always helps. It has been a while since I've taken part in a karting race, but we tested the equipment last week and it seems as though it is capable of challenging those leading the Championship... I like such events because they help me maintain my reflexes and racing senses," said Jorge.
The Brazilian driver will be competing in the Yamaha 100 SR class, with practices on Friday and races both on Saturday and Sunday. Over 300 drivers in various classes will be competing for the Championship.
